moving to Howth

Hi,
My partner and I are considering buying a house in either Howth or Clontarf in the near future. I was just wondering is there a good community in Howth, as a friend has recently told me that she lived in Howth but felt very isolated and didnt really meet many people, or get to feel that Howth was a home for her. She moved to Malahide where she now feels more involved in the community and their kids are involved in many activities there too.
Any advice on this would be appreciated, as it is a big decision for us at the moment.
