My Great Grandfather was JOHN ANGUS who lived in Howth all his life, He married ELIZA GODDEN and had 8 children. He lived 1,Hillside Terrace, Howth. Now Thornmanby Road. and built other houses
He started the little tin chapel (Is it still there?) in Hillside Terrace. " of my Great Aunts Ollie (Olive) and Haddy (Harriett) ran a little tea rooms in I think then 4, Hillside Terrace, which is now I think 10, Thornmanby Road.I used to play croquet on their back lawn
John Jumior (Known as Jack) was coxswain of the life boat station for 30 + years, the longest serving coxswain they have had.
JOHN ANGUS senior was skipper of a 3-masted ship, called I think ss RokebyI don't know where she sailed to or from. The family also ran a Chandlers shop on West Pier.
Does anyone rememnber the family, if so please let me know anything about them, and the little chapel they started and ran.
Also famous from Howth were the GILMORE family, GEORGE GILMORE being my second cousin.
Are there any Self catering cottages in Howth.?
My Dad grew up in Howth, the COCHRAN family. Does anyone remember the COCHRAN'S in Howth.
This is a lovely site, thank you. |
